Many people have worked tirelessly to make transgender unity a reality for Houston. The Houston transgender community is a diverse group with unique personalities and needs. In the past these differences were much like road blocks which frequently interfered with progress in the areas of outreach and education.
The Peggy Rudd Transgender Scholarship Fund was created to recognize outstanding transgender students and to contribute toward their continuing education. HTUC recognizes that educational opportunities for students with minority gender identity orientation are worthy of our support.
Remembering Our Dead began as an annual Houston event in 1999. In 2005, The Transgender Unity Committee became the main organizing body for the Houston Transgender Day of Remembrance.
